What each application status means
Including the honest explanation of why some decisions take a while to appear.
- Awaiting reply — sent, and the employer has not recorded a decision you are allowed to see yet.
- Shortlisted — you are through to a stage that involves a human.
- Interviewing — an interview exists against this application.
- Offer — exactly what it says.
- Closed — the role or your application ended, with or without a reason.
Why a rejection can lag
Employers can hold a rejection back for a set period. Until that window passes, your application honestly reads as pending rather than showing you a decision the employer has not released. One rule decides what you are told, and it is the same rule everywhere in the product.
